System Administrator

Leidos has an opportunity for a System Administrator
- Linux in the National Security Sector's (NSS) Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA). The role focuses on Security Engineering, Computer Network Operations (CNO), Mission Software, Analytical Methods and Modeling, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and Cryptographic Key Management.

Primary Responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for monitoring infrastructure systems, applications, and processes, and for ensuring that all issues are identified, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner. They will provide support for all infrastructure systems and respond to hardware and software incidents, working with senior system administrators often remotely. Other responsibilities include:

  • Quickly responding to IT Help Desk calls and emails in a professional manner; ensuring issues are resolved and/or escalated.
  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and correcting hardware and software issues including network connectivity.
  • Utilizing enterprise monitoring solutions to identify alarms.
  • Proactively contacting customers when infrastructure processes are significantly delayed or may impact their ability to complete a business function on time.
  • Executing the process for managing information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) and system security scanning.
  • Initiating IAVA responses and system security scans, completing remediation, and extending IAVA patches and security updates.
  • Providing technical assistance to companion work groups in support of overlapping projects.
  • Maintaining good inter-departmental relations, communicating with users, and publishing status of system outages.
  • Participating in the creation and ongoing maintenance of documentation to ensure clear, concise and accurate information is readily available to assist with incident resolution.
Required Qualifications
  • BS degree in a technical field and at least 8 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • At least 3 years of direct, hands‑on experience providing assistance to users in an IT customer service capacity.
  • At least 3 years of experience working on an IT/software program that utilizes complex equipment/systems.
  • Experience installing, updating, and upgrading Linux Operating Systems.
  • Experience with utilities used to manage Linux OS disk file systems.
  • Experience analyzing and implementing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements in Linux OS.
  • Experience with utilities used to create and configure network connections in Linux OS.
  • Experience implementing Windows Active Directory User Authentication in Linux OS.
  • Proficient in reading and modifying User/Group permissions in Linux OS.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and troubleshooting errors within Linux OS.
  • Experience with IT system optimization, monitoring, and technical set‑up and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Data Center design and configuration.
  • Experience gathering data for and documenting technical processes.
  • Experience documenting IT issues and providing detailed status reports and follow‑ups.
  • Experience analyzing and addressing IAVAs/CVEs.
  • Committed to adopting and adhering to best practices including compliance with maintenance windows and change control procedures.
  • Strong analytic abilities and meticulous work style.
  • Independent thinker capable of working independently as well as within a team.
  • Responsive to emergency system administration problems on an as‑needed on‑call basis.
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time to local program locations; additional travel to CONUS and OCONUS may also be required (overnight).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with security standards, software architectures, and Network security technologies.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Domain Services.
  • Experience building and deploying Virtual Machines within an On‑Premises Data Center.
  • Experience with scripting and/or automation tools.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and addressing security vulnerabilities discovered from automated scanning tools.
  • Experience supporting a large, complex software configuration management and development program.
  • Experience working in an Agile Development Environment or on an Agile Team.
