Computer Information Services Specialist Supervisor – District 1, Salisbury

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) District 1 – Salisbury is recruiting for a Computer Information Services Specialist Supervisor. The employee will manage computer technology and telecommunications for the District 1 Office and maintenance facilities in Cambridge, Princess Anne, Salisbury, and Snow Hill. The position is supervised and requires direct oversight of staff, evaluation of hardware and software solutions, and maintenance of VoIP services.

Applicants must be willing to work in Dorchester, Somerset, Worcester, and Wicomico Counties. The primary office is located in Salisbury, MD (Wicomico County).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervising and directing the work of Computer Information Services Specialists and other IT support staff
  • Determining computer hardware and software solutions for users and recommending acquisition of appropriate technology resources and services
  • Overseeing desktop support, addressing on‑site user issues with hardware and software
  • Coordinating the development and/or implementation of various software applications
  • Asset management: delivering, deploying, disposing, and inventorying assets
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent high school equivalency certificate
  • Two (2) years of experience evaluating, implementing, and maintaining microcomputer hardware and software
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience (selective qualification)
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • A+ Applications Expert and Network Administrator Certifications
  • MSCE or MCNE Certification
  • Advanced knowledge of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network services
  • Two (2) years of IT Service Management (ITSM) experience
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified:
    Modern Desktop Administrator, or ITIL Foundation certifications
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, including Windows 10 and 11
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 Suite and a Help Desk Ticketing System
Additional Information
  • Employees may be required to operate motor vehicles and must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license
  • Employees must remain reachable by phone or pager with a valid contact number
  • Employees may be required to work beyond their shift, including evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Employees may work on a hybrid schedule, including telework, with required on‑site hours
