Position Summary
The GEICO Security Operations Center (GSOC) Supervisor will lead on‑duty SOC operators, manage incident response, threat detection, and crisis management, and collaborate with other departments to safeguard the company’s assets, personnel, and brand reputation.
Key Responsibilities- Incident Response
- Oversee incident response efforts, coordinate internal and external physical security/life‑safety events, and manage incident resolution to meet service level agreements.
- Communicate with stakeholders, including technology partners, during major incidents to provide timely updates.
- Conduct post‑incident reviews, capture lessons learned, and develop action plans.
- Assume Incident Commander role for crisis‑level incidents per escalation policy and maintain communication cadence.
- Support operators in compiling situational reports and incident summaries, and ensure timely triage, categorization, and prioritization of alerts.
- Oversee incident documentation workflows, escalation channels, and resolutions, and coordinate production of emergency notifications and mass communications.
- Leadership and Strategic Direction
- Provide leadership, set vision, and align GSOC activities with organizational goals.
- Create and maintain GSOC policies and procedures, and apply escalation matrices consistently.
- Lead daily SOC operations and provide task management and operational oversight.
- Team Management
- Supervise on‑duty SOC operators, including hiring, training, evaluating, and managing performance.
- Work with security contract vendor representatives to manage contractors.
- Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment, ensuring operators follow runbooks and site‑specific requirements.
- Threat Detection and Mitigation
- Collaborate with tiered GSOC staff to detect and analyze threats, and utilize threat intelligence to enhance incident response.
- Analyze scope of threats and vulnerabilities, and monitor and report system health across alarms, access control, surveillance, and incident management systems.
- Resource Management
- Manage GSOC resources, including staffing, tools, and technology, optimizing allocation and improving operations.
- Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions across the application portfolio.
- Reporting and Metrics
- Measure performance metrics via KPIs and report on security operations to GCSS leadership.
- Collaboration
- Coordinate with site security, facilities, IT, HR, Legal, Communications, and business leadership during incidents and crisis events.
- Training and Development
- Assist in creating and delivering training materials, supporting onboarding, refreshers, and scenario‑based drills.
- Identify gaps in SOPs and propose process improvements.
Monday‑Friday (Morning Shift) or Monday‑Friday (Swing Shift)
Qualifications- Associate degree or proven experience managing a SOC or similar security operations environment.
- At least two years of direct experience managing and leading teams (contracted or full‑time).
- Proficiency in security platforms, including access control systems, video surveillance, and incident management applications.
- Experience with threat intelligence, geo‑risk platforms, event monitoring, mass communication tools, and familiarity with OSINT techniques.
- Strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
- Exceptional briefing, writing, and communication abilities.
- Experience liaising with federal, state, and local first responder agencies.
- Experience managing a SOC in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
- Experience implementing KPI‑driven performance measurement.
- Ability to triage physical security and life‑safety incidents and determine appropriate escalation.
- Flexibility to work non‑traditional hours, including nights and weekends.
- MS Office Suite; ability to manage large data sets, search engines, and other relevant tools.
Normal office environment; required to be on‑call or work weekends and extended periods to support physical security operations. No travel expectations at this time.
