UX​/UI Designer in Baltimore, Maryland

UX/UI Designer

The Baltimore City Office of Information and Technology (BCIT) is seeking a UX/UI designer that will work with residents, agency partners, and the rest of the team to design simple, intuitive government services and user interface.

Responsibilities include:

• Participate in user experience research and design
• Participate in design sessions to gain insights into user behavior
• Translate user insights into digital interactions
• Create personas and other design process artifacts through user research and data
• Define interaction models and evaluate success
• Develop workflows, wireframes and prototypes related to user needs
• Visually design digital graphics, user interfaces, and team presentations
• Work closely with Lead UX designer
• Build trust and partnerships by working alongside agency partners
• Help grow the City's human-centered approaches and spread design best practices in collaboration with other design experts in the City

Qualifications:

• 1+ experience working as a UX/UI Designer.
• A passion for civic government and design
• Curiosity and excitement for improving the efficacy of local government
• Basic knowledge of UI/UX frameworks or practices
• An understanding of human-centered design frameworks and practices
• Experience collecting and using peer research in their work

Desirable experiences or traits:

• Comfort in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
• Experience or related experience creating mock-ups for user interfaces
• Experience with service design, whether customer-facing or internal
• Experience or equivalent experience working with coders or back-end developers
• Experience facilitating groups
• In the process of or a completed BA or MA in UX/UI design, service design, graphic design, I/O psychology, or a related field
