Senior DNS Bind Engineer Level 2
Location:
Woodlawn, MD
Peraton is seeking a Sr. DNS Bind Engineer (Level
2) who will support several projects for a large federal agency.
The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton unit, which focuses on Healthcare IT solutions for our Federal, State, and Local government clients. The qualified candidate should also have strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
Description of Work:
- Design and maintain the 24x7 UNIX/Linux server infrastructures that support SSA mission critical web-based applications.
- A talented and technical Engineer with hands on experience in BIND (DNS), IPAM, QIP, Linux, and UNIX is needed for an exciting contract to hire role with an industry leading vendor.
- You will be working as a Tier III Engineer by implementing and administration of complex BIND (DNS) with ACL views leveraging IPAM. You will be a part of our OPS team working on implementation and escalation tasks. Experience with DNS architecture and application solutions are a must have.
- Looking for an individual who strong experience also has experience with SED, SH, KSH, Bourne shell (BASH), PERL, and PYTHON
- In depth experience DNS administration using the BIND DNS server in Linux environments
- DNS device configuration, management and operations in an enterprise environment
- Linux, PowerDNS, BIND configuration, Access Control Lists (ACL), DNS zone transfer, data import/export and/or understanding
- Windows DNS and Active Directory (conditional forwarding, etc) knowledge/administration to support
- SSH, SCP and Windows Remote Desktop Connection usage
- DNS name resolution Moves, Adds, Changes and Deletions (MACD)
- DNSSEC support for Moves, Adds, Changes and Deletions (MACD)
- Updating of DNS ISP infrastructure through zone transfers.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other DNS team documentation
- Provide DNS engineering support to DNS Architect and DNS team
- Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting hardware and software for DNS problems
- Update and/or monitor Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) as applicable and other equipment proactively
- Requires the ability to work up to an in-depth understanding of the overall network infrastructure and the ability to provide remote troubleshooting and resolution.
- Have knowledge of networking (e. g., OSPF, IP, BGP etc) is a plus, working knowledge fiewalls
- Work with the infrastructure engineering teams to evolve and mature enterprise IT infrastructure
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities.
- Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relative experience, Master's degree and 4 years of relative experience, or 10 years of relative experience in an IT field in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in IT to include lead and senior roles
- 10 years Infrastructure Consulting experience preferred
- 5 years of application architecture and
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, information systems or related discipline or demonstrated 15+ years' work experience.
- 5 Years of Applied knowledge of server hardware and virtualization technologies
- 5 years of Applied Knowledge of the following: INFOBLOX, IND, DNS, IPAM, LINUX, QIP
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration.
- 2 years of experience with version control (CVS, Subversion, Git, etc.)
- 5 years of experience with running Linux BIND (DNS) for complex enterprise environments
- 5 years of experience with DNS for IPv4
- 5 years of experience with DNS Split Horizon and DR Failover
- 3 years of experience working within a Systems Engineering oriented environment supporting large Internet based business and large scale users base
- Exceptional decision making and problem solving skills
- Exceptional personal time management, planning and organizational skills
- 3 years of experience with DNS administration using the BIND DNS server in Unix and Linux environments
- Able to perform trouble shoot and analysis of DNS resolution issues in Split Horizon
