IT Business Relationship Director

The IT Business Relationship Director serves as the strategic liaison between Information Services & Technology (IS&T) and assigned business units, ensuring alignment between technology solutions and organizational goals. This leadership role is responsible for business relationship management, strategic planning, service delivery, risk management, and solution development in support of operational, financial, and clinical objectives.

The Director partners closely with executive leadership, operational stakeholders, and IT teams to identify opportunities for innovation, improve organizational efficiency, and drive enterprise-wide strategic initiatives. This position plays a critical role in advancing business transformation through the effective use of technology while ensuring IT services remain aligned with evolving organizational priorities and customer needs.

Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for departmental functions and activities, including the development, implementation, enhancement, and production support of software, hardware, and infrastructure solutions.

Develops, implements, administers, and continuously improves operational processes to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services. Prepares recommendations and proposals for enhanced technology services supporting customer departments.

Assists in establishing departmental strategic direction and implements short term and long term goals aligned with the objectives of the Medical System, UMMS IS&T, and Site Senior Leadership.

Collaborates with operational and clinical stakeholders to complete project documentation in accordance with organizational project management standards. Ensures projects are aligned with organizational priorities, goals, and business objectives.

Assists in the development, management, and oversight of Information Systems operating and capital budgets for assigned areas, including forecasting personnel, software, hardware, infrastructure, and training needs.

Partners with Site Senior Leadership regarding departmental budgets, major purchase priorities, and projects involving significant capital expenditures.

Develops and implements procedures that support fiscally responsible and cost efficient operations.

Evaluates and approves routine technology and equipment acquisitions.

Maintains accurate records, reporting metrics, and operational statistics to support administrative, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Fosters strong internal and external communication channels and keeps Site Senior Leadership informed of significant initiatives, operational needs, and emerging issues. May serve in leadership capacities during periods of leadership absence.

Actively participates in IS&T Level 1 and Level 2 major incident management processes and serves as the IS&T representative within site emergency management and command center operations.

Ensures computer systems and operational processes comply with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards in coordination with departmental leadership.

Leads performance improvement initiatives focused on enhancing customer service, operational efficiency, departmental productivity, and overall service delivery.

Develops and executes governance, control, and compliance monitoring processes to ensure organizational risks are identified, measured, monitored, controlled, and mitigated appropriately.

Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with IT team members, operational leaders, vendors, and customers across the Medical System.

Assesses employee engagement and satisfaction results, supports action planning efforts, and partners with UMMS IS&T Senior Leadership to implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Master's degree completion or current enrollment in a related graduate program is preferred.
