Position: COMPUTER USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST II (AUDIO VIDEO TECH (FULL-TIME CONTRACTUAL))

LOCATION OF POSITION: MDH Office of Enterprise Technology (OET), Infrastructure & Operations Division, 201 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21201

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to plan, coordinate, and support audiovisual (AV) and video teleconferencing (VTC) information technology systems for meetings, events, and hybrid productions. This role will facilitate the use of technology hardware and software resources to ensure successful execution of internet and internal meetings, workshops, and other events to meet the needs of MDH OET locations.

It will also ensure reliable, high-quality audio and video services that support communication, collaboration, and operations.

In addition, the selected candidate should:

  • Be detail-oriented with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Have flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Experience:

    One year of experience responding to Help Desk calls from users of computer systems.

Notes:

  • Candidates may substitute additional experience operating computer equipment for data entry, word processing, or maintaining information on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience as a Video Technician or in a similar role, preferably in the events, entertainment, or AV industry.
  • Strong technical experience with audiovisual equipment, including cameras, video switchers, LED walls, projectors, and signal processors.
  • Experience with live streaming and presentation software, such as ATEM control, OBS, Wirecast, Vimeo Livestream, Adobe Suite, Pro Presenter 7, PowerPoint, Facebook Live, Instagram Live, Twitch, You Tube Live, Tik Tok Live.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues quickly and effectively under pressure, ensuring minimal disruption to events.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience interacting professionally with clients, vendors, and team members.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits for themselves and dependents. The State of Maryland will subsidize 75% of the cost; employees pay 25% of the premiums for medical and prescription coverage, and may enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance at full premium.
