Role Summary
At T. Rowe Price, the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function empowers the firm to achieve strategic objectives through optimal use of technology. The EA function aligns technology with business capabilities to enable strategy execution and business transformation. As Head of Platforms Architecture, you will lead enterprise‑level platform and infrastructure architecture, directing strategy, standards, roadmaps, governance, and operating models across multiple technology domains and teams.
You will mentor senior architects and engineering leaders, deliver scalable, secure, and business‑aligned technology platforms, and play a lead role in M&A technology due diligence and integration planning.
- Develop and maintain the technical platform and infrastructure architecture strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy.
- Advise on new technologies to modernize infrastructure, improving efficiency and scalability.
- Make architecture decisions guided by long‑term business strategy, enterprise priorities, and risk posture.
- Lead the design and deployment of robust, scalable, and secure technology platforms and infrastructure.
- Ensure technical platforms and infrastructure adhere to enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
- Oversee integration of various platforms and infrastructure components within the enterprise technology landscape.
- Provide leadership and direction to architects, engineers, and technology leaders.
- Collaborate with IT leaders, business stakeholders, and external partners on modernization projects.
- Build and maintain a wide internal and external network across business, technology, vendor, and industry communities.
- Establish and enforce policies, standards, and guidelines for technology platform and infrastructure architecture.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies for all platform and infrastructure solutions.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify improvement opportunities.
- Articulate business, risk, control, and regulatory considerations impacting architecture, including data privacy, resiliency, cybersecurity, and financial controls.
- Establish and manage architecture review practices for major platform and infrastructure initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on optimization and modernization.
- Stay informed about industry trends, tools, and technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Implement best practices for platform performance tuning and optimization.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field and 12+ years of relevant technology experience.
- 5+ years of management experience leading architecture, engineering, or technology teams in large, complex environments.
- Proven experience leading technology platform architecture and infrastructure modernization projects in large environments.
- Deep understanding of platform architecture, infrastructure design, and engineering principles.
- Experience with a variety of technical platforms (e.g., APIM, Messaging Middleware, Dev Sec Ops , Observability, Developer Portal).
- Experience with major enterprise software platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Workday, Appian).
- Proficiency in multi‑cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their platform services.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture patterns and practices (design patterns for microservices, loosely coupled architecture, Dev Sec Ops ).
- Experience with infrastructure technologies (networks, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud services).
- Demonstrated ownership of architectural disciplines with accountability for standards, roadmaps, lifecycle decisions, and operational outcomes.
- Extensive experience in M&A IT due diligence, integration planning, and execution.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to inspire, guide, and develop global teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
