A specialist systems and security engineering organization is seeking system administrators to manage mission-critical infrastructure for direct U.S. Government customers, including the NSA.
This is an opportunity to use the full value of an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph while working directly with government users, technical stakeholders, and mission teams. System administrators are given genuine ownership of their environments, the authority to recommend improvements, and the autonomy to resolve complex infrastructure problems without being restricted to routine ticket handling.
You will work across the full systems lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through configuration, optimization, troubleshooting, and operational support. The environment suits engineers who want their technical judgement to carry weight and who want direct visibility into how their work supports national security missions.
ResponsibilitiesSystem administrators in this role implement, configure, maintain, secure, and optimize complex IT environments supporting classified government operations.
Engineers manage the daily configuration and operation of client, server, storage, network, and virtualization infrastructure. You will diagnose complex technical issues, implement operating system enhancements, analyze capacity and performance, and recommend changes that improve system reliability and mission availability.
Additional responsibilities include administering Linux, UNIX, and Windows systems, managing VMware environments, supporting system integration, automating configuration management, maintaining system integrity, resolving escalated incidents, and communicating directly with agency management and internal customers.
Required Skills- VMware or comparable virtualization experience
- Implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems
- Experience supporting server, storage, network, and client infrastructure
- Operating system installation, patching, hardening, and performance optimization
- System monitoring, capacity analysis, and resource planning
- Experience resolving Tier 2 or Tier 3 infrastructure issues
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph security clearance
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including RHEL 8 or RHEL 9
- Configuration management using Salt or Salt Stack
- Bash, Power Shell, or Python scripting
- VMware vSphere, ESXi, or vCenter
- Network configuration and TCP/IP fundamentals
- Storage administration
- Server hardware configuration and troubleshooting
- Security hardening and vulnerability remediation
- System architecture and systems engineering lifecycle experience
- Service-Oriented Architecture environments
- Technical documentation and system drawing packages
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense missions
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must hold an active TS/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
- Must be able to work onsite in Hanover, Maryland and directly support sensitive government missions, including NSA programs
