Job Description Summary

Unique Opportunity for an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) to provide Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) training and Assistive (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). & training services to individuals with a variety of disabilities. Candidates must be willing and able to drive to different locations throughout Central Maryland and should be flexible with their schedule, caseload, and ability to work easily with others.

Duties and

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct Assistive Technology Assessments to identify appropriate technology to support individuals with disabilities.
  • Provide AT Setup and Training in the areas of physical access, cognitive, and low vision.
  • Provide AAC training services for individuals with disabilities based on plans developed by a licensed speech-language pathologist.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem solving relative to AAC and AT tools.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of training materials and resources.
  • Prepare written reports as required.
  • Complete Case Management, including scheduling, billing, and service provision.
  • Maintain accurate training logs with relevant data to document client progress.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to the field.
  • Day travel to the following counties:
    Anne Arundel, Carroll, Frederick, Howard, Harford, Montgomery, Prince George's, Baltimore, and Baltimore City with travel reimbursement provided.

Qualifications

  • Hold current certification as an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) through RESNA;
    or
  • Hold an Assistive Technology Applications Certificate from California State University, Northridge (CSUN).

Skills

  • General knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive  and applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage scheduling and caseload responsibilities.
  • Experience with AAC/AT service provision preferred.

Physical Requirements

Audio-visual acuity to be able to read small print and perform perceptual diagnostic assessments. Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, push, walk, stand, and lift 25 pounds.
