A premier Baltimore law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support a dynamic litigation practice. This is a full-time, in-office position offering the opportunity to work closely with accomplished litigators on complex and high-profile matters across state and federal courts.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional work product and client service.
Position Overview
The Litigation Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys within the firm's litigation group. The ideal candidate brings prior law firm experience supporting litigators, understands court procedures and deadlines, and is adept at managing multiple priorities with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, format, proofread, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
- Manage electronic and paper filings in Maryland state and federal courts
- Maintain case calendars, docket deadlines, and trial schedules
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and client meetings
- Assist with discovery management, including document production and organization
- Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and pre-trial materials
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors
- Maintain organized case files in the firm's document management system
- Process billing entries and expense reports as needed
- Prior experience working in a law firm supporting a litigation practice (required)
- Strong knowledge of Maryland state and federal court rules and filing procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience with electronic filing systems and document management platforms
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure
- Professional demeanor and strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of discretion in handling confidential information
