Job Description
IAA, an RB Global, Inc. company, is seeking a Yard Attendant to join our team. Yard Attendants enjoy working in the elements, are detail‑oriented and quick on their feet, and have a passion for cars. They focus on safety and maintain a smooth operation while learning new technology tools available in the auction industry.
Responsibilities- Vehicle check‑in by recording and filing information on vehicles assigned to the facility.
- Detail (thoroughly clean) vehicles to improve their appearance and enhance their value at auction; training is provided.
- Operate passenger vehicles safely, moving them around the facility and/or participating in drive‑through auctions.
- Recover keys, license plates, and other information or objects from vehicles, storing them in the appropriate locations at the branch.
- Assist visitors by providing appropriate guidance and referring them to the correct person for additional assistance.
- Train and develop on the job in forklift and loader operation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility to operate a motor vehicle.
- Upbeat demeanor to ensure every customer interaction is positive.
- Basic automotive knowledge or general mechanical knowledge is desirable.
- Teamwork skills; ability to work effectively with others.
- Preference for candidates with basic automotive repair skills or experience in rental, construction, or related fields.
- Apply safety procedures to protect company and customer assets.
- Use personal protective equipment (e.g., safety gloves, safety glasses).
- Avoid accidents by recognizing potentially unsafe situations and responding appropriately.
- Follow industry‑specific regulations related to handling hazardous materials.
- Constantly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 100 lbs.
- Constantly reach outward, handle, finger objects, stand, walk, and sit.
- Frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb, and crawl.
- Work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Remain alert to potential hazards associated with heavy equipment and other vehicles in the work area.
