Shuttle Driver , Split-Shift - Johns Hopkins Health System

Compensation

Hourly base pay range: $19.25 per hour.

10:30am–6:30pm (split shift), Monday‑Friday.

• Transport guests to and from hotels, hospitals, casinos and local area in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner while practicing safe driving.
• Assist guests with luggage, including delivery and pickup during arrival and departure.
• Maintain vehicle activity and maintenance logs.
• Shuttle guests to approved places, remembering pick‑up and destination points.
• Know property outlets, meeting rooms, amenities, attractions, parking rates, etc.
• Communicate by telephone, two‑way radio and in person in a courteous, friendly, professional manner with all guests, staff and co‑workers.
• Inspect vehicle at the beginning of each shift and maintain operational safety.
• Record any vehicle malfunction or damage and submit it to management.
• Protect guest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, maintain security of financial and identifying information.
• Provide only a hand for assistance; no lift services. Check wheelchairs for safe operation and clean after use.
• Assist patrons with entering and exiting the vehicle and may use specialized equipment such as wheelchair lifts.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Legal requirements:
  Must be at least 21 years old, pass criminal background, MVR and drug screen; maintain a valid driver’s license and annual/semiannual MVR checks; hold current Medical Examiner’s Certificate; keep DOT endorsements and bi‑annual physical exam up to date.
• Experience:
  
  One to three months of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Driving:
  Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
• Skills:
  
  Read/write standard English, understand simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; basic arithmetic; comprehend 24‑hour and military time; understand time‑based rates.
• Other:
  Attend and complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course as applicable.

Work requires frequent speaking or hearing, prolonged sitting or standing, walking, handling tools or equipment, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Lifting requirements: up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly.

The majority of work is performed outdoors for extended periods of time (up to the full shift) under varying weather conditions. Travel up to 5% may be required.
