The Custodian is responsible for the sanitation and overall cleanliness of program property, facilities, and grounds. The Custodian monitors and inspects program unit supplies, ensuring that state and local building regulations and codes are maintained at all times. The position requires efficient housekeeping functions, assuring cleanliness of all areas including, but not limited to, facility offices, group rooms, conference rooms, dining rooms, and control centers.
Qualifications- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- At least one year of experience in custodial services.
- Fingerprint‑based criminal background check by FBOP and receipt of FBOP clearance.
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility and surrounding grounds.
- Stock and restock unit supplies.
- Empty trash and recycle receptacles.
- Sweep, wash, strip, and wax floors as needed.
- Dispose of litter and debris from grounds.
- Conduct safety inspections of the building and grounds.
- Supervise and monitor residents’ cleaning activities.
- Inventory, order cleaning/housekeeping supplies and equipment as needed.
- Respond to emergency sanitation matters and/or incidents.
- Drive company vehicle for business and client transport as required.
- Maintain working knowledge of VOAC policies, operational procedures, and relevant federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Represent the program to vendors, community, and the general public professionally and appropriately.
- Operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.
- Travel to assigned locations and perform basic, light home maintenance activities such as standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, grasping, climbing, talking, seeing, hearing, and operating office equipment.
- Lift light objects up to 30 pounds (e.g., mail, supplies, files, equipment).
- Operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
- Remain seated for extended periods of time.
- asionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Ensure the building is maintained in a safe and sanitary manner at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual and licensure obligations.
- Ensure facility grounds are clean, safe, and secure.
