Starting salary: $16.92–$19.55 per hour after 12 months.
Responsibilities- Clean, sweep, vacuum, and polish floors using various tools and cleaning materials.
- Clean identified or assigned areas with cleaners and disinfecting solutions.
- Clean walls, windows, shades, ceilings, and doors; may work from ladders or scaffolding.
- Replenish towels, soap, toilet tissue, linen, and other supplies as required.
- Inspect building interior and exterior for service issues; report damages, malfunctions, and needed repairs to a supervisor.
- Remove trash from assigned areas; move furniture, equipment, and supplies; empty small and large trash containers; remove debris and discarded building materials.
- Separate recyclable materials and maintain proper disposal.
- Transport biohazard containers to a designated area.
- Remove snow, ice, and debris from entrances, sidewalks, and other areas as needed.
- Maintain equipment and work areas clean and orderly.
- Observe safety precautions and properly use equipment and products.
- Set up and remove furniture, equipment, and supplies for meetings and special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year or more of experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and write labels on cleaning and detergent materials and disinfecting solutions.
- Ability to operate large, powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning and buffing equipment.
- Ability to interact respectfully with faculty, students, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, or move about campus continuously.
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs regularly.
This is a Bargaining Unit position. New employees are considered probationary until completion of 90 calendar days of employment, after which benefits become available.

Education and Experience EquivalencyUnder the JHU Equivalency Formula, 30 undergraduate (or 18 graduate) credit hours may substitute one year of experience. Additional related experience may also substitute required education on the same basis. Up to two years of non‑related college coursework may be applied toward the total minimum requirements.
