Position Summary
The Construction Project Executive is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall direction, performance, and profitability of multiple construction projects or a portfolio of work. This individual provides strategic oversight to Project Managers and Superintendents, ensures operational excellence, maintains strong client relationships, and drives successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.
The Project Executive plays a key role in business development, risk management, financial performance, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities Project & Operational Leadership- Oversee a portfolio of projects to ensure they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
- Provide executive-level guidance and support to Project Managers and field leadership
- Review and approve project budgets, schedules, subcontractor awards, and major purchase orders
- Monitor project financial performance including cost control, forecasting, and margin management
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Serve as the primary executive point of contact for owners, developers, architects, and key stakeholders
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships
- Participate in high-level meetings to resolve complex project issues
- Support negotiation of contracts, change orders, and dispute resolution
- Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams during budgeting and planning phases
- Provide constructability input and risk assessment
- Assist with proposal development, interviews, and pursuit strategy
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and strategic growth
- Oversee project financial reporting and ensure accurate forecasting
- Identify and mitigate contractual, financial, and operational risks
- Review and approve subcontract agreements and major vendor contracts
- Ensure compliance with insurance, bonding, and legal requirements
- Mentor and develop Project Managers and operational staff
- Assist in recruiting and building high-performing teams
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Conduct performance reviews and support professional growth
- 10+ years of progressive experience in construction management
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale, complex projects
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
- Proficiency with construction management and financial software
