DescriptionMaryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to join a team dedicated to serving the residents of Maryland through reliable, customer‑focused transit services every day.
The role of Manager, Asset Inventory & Lifecycle Management is a key leadership position within the Office of Program Management Oversight. The incumbent will oversee the full lifecycle management of all MTA modal assets, ensuring accurate inventory, utilization, condition assessment, and efficient maintenance. Responsibilities include developing tools, reports, and strategies that drive data‑informed decision‑making across the agency.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the full lifecycle management of MTA assets across all modes, ensuring accurate inventory, tracking, utilization, and condition assessment.
- Manage, monitor, and report on asset performance to support operational efficiency and cost management.
- Lead the development and implementation of asset management strategies, tools, dashboards, and reports that support data‑driven decision‑making.
- Ensure alignment of asset‑related activities with the MTA 5‑Year Program Schedule, coordinate with the statewide 6‑Year Consolidated Transportation Program, and provide inputs to longer‑term Program Development.
- Support the advancement of complex, multimillion‑ dollar capital infrastructure and equipment projects such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, ADA, environmental, and transit‑oriented development projects.
- Collaborate with Facilities Engineering, Track & Structural Preservation, Systems & Engineering, and Construction Management divisions across Bus, Metro, and Light Rail.
- Ensure all asset management activities align with MTA's strategic plan and support a state of good repair for all modal assets.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Studies, Engineering, Planning, or a closely related field.
Experience:
Six years of administrative or professional work, including at least one year of supervisory, coordinating, or policy‑development experience.
Desired
Skills:
- Significant expertise in data collection, management, and analysis.
- Experience with large, complex transit and rail systems and operations.
- Exposure to typical transportation project management, engineering, construction, and maintenance practices.
- A demonstrated desire and ability to build and implement robust systems, processes, and procedures to support agency goals.
- Military service experience involving administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, or overseeing unit operations may substitute for education and experience requirements.
- A valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland is required for duties that involve operating a motor vehicle.
Managers should foster a positive safety culture by leading with integrity and establishing departmental safety practices and procedures for all employees. Managers must attend safety meetings and enforce all safety rules, policies, and personal protective equipment requirements. Hazard reporting, risk assessments, and compliance with safety regulations are mandatory.
