Assistant Vice President, Human Services and Community Impact

Position Overview

The Assistant Vice President for Human Services and Community Impact is a strategic, thoughtful, and emotionally intelligent leader who helps translate community insight into action. Working closely with the Chief Planning Officer, agency partners, and lay leadership, this role supports planning, evaluation, and decision-making that strengthens impact across The Associated's human services priorities and advances meaningful outcomes across the community.

This role sits within Community Planning & Allocations (CP&A), the team at the Associated that brings together agencies, lay leaders, and data to identify community priorities, lead initiatives, guide investments, and strengthen service delivery across the network.

This is a full-time, hybrid position that requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

What You Will Do

• Lead with excellence and judgment:
Advance human services impact work through clear analysis, sound decision-making, and strong follow-through—balancing collaboration with timely leadership when decisions are needed.

• Partner with lay leadership & committees:
Staff and support committees and volunteer leaders with strong facilitation, relationship stewardship, and political acumen; build trust across diverse viewpoints and stakeholders.

• Work collaboratively with Associated agencies:
Coordinate closely with The Associated's network of agencies to identify needs, strengthen service delivery, and align strategies across partners.

• Integrate data into planning and recommendations:
Use research, community input, and evaluation to surface insights, frame choices, and communicate recommendations clearly to professional and lay audiences.

• Help shape community-impact funding:
Support the formulation of The Associated's funding strategies and recommendations to advance meaningful impact across the community, informed by data, agency partnership, and emerging needs.

• Strengthen collaboration across the Associated network:
Collaborate with colleagues and leaders at the Associated and its partner agencies to support implementation, learning, and visibility of priority work. Foster trust and clarity across diverse stakeholders.

• Support collaborative initiatives:
Supervise collaborative initiatives such as Age Well Baltimore, a coordinated, cross-agency strategy to support healthy aging, connection, and longevity for older adults, and Jewish Economic Vulnerability, a system-wide initiative addressing financial insecurity through strategies such as food access, financial wellness, and workforce development.

Qualifications & Core Strengths

• Exceptional emotional intelligence and interpersonal skill; able to navigate sensitive dynamics with care and clarity

• Strong political acumen and judgment; experienced in committee and lay leader environments

• Deep knowledge of Jewish Baltimore, Jewish history, and Jewish traditions; able to bring relevant context and cultural fluency to the work

• Proven ability to collaborate intensively while also showing leadership in decision-making and driving work to completion

• Well-read, intellectually curious, and quick to learn new material; able to synthesize complex topics for different audiences

• Strong communicator with the ability to translate insight into action

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's Degree required;
Master's degree preferred

• Experience in supervising and growing a team

• Experience working with lay leaders, boards, or volunteer committees

• Background in human services, nonprofit leadership, community planning, or related fields

• Demonstrated success in roles requiring strategy, relationship management, and execution
