The Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations provides strategic leadership to advance and implement all fundraising and alumni relations strategies, short- and long-term, and activities to carry forward the mission and vision of BSPH. Reporting to the Dean of the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the University's Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, this leadership position works closely with the Dean, the BSPH senior leadership team, and senior leaders within Johns Hopkins Development and Alumni Relations, and is responsible for all fundraising and alumni engagement activities in support of the mission and vision of the School.

The Associate Dean is a member of the senior leadership team of the Bloomberg School of Public Health and also serves on the University Development Leadership Group. They partner closely with the Associate Dean for Communications and Marketing as joint leaders of the Office of External Affairs (OEA), aligning school-based stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and events with communications, marketing, and branding to build on and sustain the excellence of the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

This role involves overseeing strategic partnerships with internal BSPH leaders and external donors that enhance research, teaching, and policy impact. Moreover, this position is responsible for driving strategy for the school's top donors and volunteers, acting as a close partner to the Dean on her direct fundraising and a key advisor on the role of philanthropy in advancing the mission of the school.

The Associate Dean will lead a robust team of seasoned professionals responsible for raising $75 million+ in philanthropy each year, overseeing all aspects of development (inclusive of private philanthropy and corporate relations program), alumni relations, and constituent engagement.

The Associate Dean works closely with colleagues across the institution to harness collaborative fundraising opportunities across Johns Hopkins University and Medicine. This position is required to build exceptional partnerships across the institution in deepening the impact of shared priorities, initiatives, and donor relationships.

Specific

Duties and Responsibilities:

Development Strategy, Execution and Team Leadership

* Develop and lead effective philanthropic fundraising strategies as required to obtain, maintain and grow funding support for the School's priorities from individuals, alumni, corporations, non-profit partners and philanthropic foundations with a focus on increasing philanthropy from individual donors and alumni to support the balance of faculty-driven awards.

* Build new revenue strategies and identify opportunities for private sector funding growth to BSPH, including management of the Director of Corporate Relations within the OEA, which goes beyond philanthropy to seek corporate resources and requires close partnership with the departments, faculty, and Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV) to position BSPH to grow the corporate portfolio overall (e.g., consulting/technical assistance, corporate-funded research, executive education).

* Define and lead a comprehensive and dynamic alumni relations strategy, reconsidering effective ways to engage the School's worldwide alumni network, in partnership with the central Office of Alumni Relations, to maximize resources across the University.

* Oversee the development, management and composition of volunteer board and committees, primarily the Health Advisory Board (HAB), leveraging board members as both donors and strategic partners in identifying and cultivating prospects.

* Increase, diversify, and sustain philanthropic revenue by defining and elevating philanthropic priorities across the school. Serve as a strategic convener and partnership architect, facilitating meaningful collaborations between donors, corporate partners, foundations, and faculty that…
