The Senior Manager of Community Leadership and Learning reports to the Senior Director of Culture & Community and leads Associated Black Charities’ learning, leadership development, capacity-building, and community-based programming.
The Senior Manager leads ABC Academy and ABC’s full suite of learning opportunities and programmatic initiatives, ensuring alignment with ABC’s mission, priorities, community needs, and outcomes. This position manages programs from design through implementation, evaluation, and improvement.
The Senior Manager transforms ABC’s strategies, research, and expertise into engaging curricula, presentations, workbooks, worksheets, activities, facilitator guides, toolkits, and assessments. The role requires strong public speaking and facilitation skills and coordination of external trainers and subject matter experts.
The position supervises assigned staff and program support personnel and is responsible for delegation, coaching, performance management, deadlines, deliverables, and accountability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Leadership and ABC Academy- Lead ABC Academy and ABC’s learning, leadership development, capacity-building, community education, and related initiatives.
- Develop program plans, timelines, budgets, deliverables, learning objectives, implementation strategies, and performance measures.
- Manage multiple programs while meeting deadlines, quality standards, contractual requirements, and organizational expectations.
- Identify challenges, risks, opportunities, and resource needs and proactively develop solutions.
- Maintain program systems, records, participant data, evaluations, outcomes, and required documentation.
- Track performance and prepare reports and impact information for leadership, funders, and partners.
- Support grant-funded programs with required data, outcomes, narratives, and documentation.
- Monitor program expenditures and approved budgets.
- Assess ABC’s learning portfolio and recommend new trainings, workshops, cohorts, convenings, technical assistance, and other formats.
- Develop strategies to expand participation, reach, relevance, retention, completion, and impact.
- Coordinate recruitment, registration, scheduling, facilitators, communications, materials, logistics, evaluation, and follow-up.
- Identify opportunities to scale programming across in-person, virtual, hybrid, cohort-based, and community-based formats.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of curricula and educational resources.
- Translate topics related to racial equity, leadership, economic mobility, nonprofit management, governance, workforce development, community engagement, and systems change into accessible learning experiences.
- Develop presentations, facilitator guides, workbooks, worksheets, toolkits, case studies, discussion guides, interactive activities, assessments, action-planning tools, resource guides, evaluations, and digital learning materials.
- Apply adult-learning principles to ensure programming is interactive, practical, culturally responsive, and participant-centered.
- Evaluate and revise curriculum based on feedback, outcomes, research, and emerging needs.
- Serve as an ABC trainer, presenter, facilitator, moderator, and organizational representative.
- Deliver presentations, workshops, trainings, community dialogues, panels, and other learning experiences to diverse audiences.
- Identify, recruit, prepare, and coordinate trainers, speakers, panelists, consultants, facilitators, and subject matter experts.
- Review presentations and training materials to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with ABC standards.
- Supervise assigned staff, interns, contractors, consultants, and other designated personnel.
- Establish clear priorities, assignments, deadlines, performance standards, and accountability.
- Conduct regular supervision meetings and monitor progress toward goals.
- Delegate responsibilities while maintaining accountability for quality and timely completion of team deliverables.
