We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Unit Manager to lead our concrete construction operations in the DMV area. This role will oversee all activities of a specific business unit, ensuring efficient operations, project success, and maximized profitability. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of professionals, overseeing project management, and ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the business unit, ensuring all activities align with the company's strategic objectives and standards of excellence.
  • Manage and supervise a team of construction professionals, fostering a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and exceptional service delivery.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects, ensuring all phases (from shoring and forming to pouring, columns, and deck work) are executed effectively.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to project budgets.
  • Implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential project risks and uncertainties.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on business unit performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 8 years in a similar operational management capacity.
  • Proven concrete experience in shoring, forming, pouring, columns, deck work, and post-tension.
  • Experience managing $30-50mil in concrete scope over 1-3 projects or more at one time.
  • Experience building teams - recruited, interviewed and hired PMs and Superintendents.
  • Experienced in multi-level cast in place concrete, and/or large heavy industrial work such as warehouses and data centers.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, risk management, budget management, and procurement.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor teams.
  • Problem solver who can influence formwork, shoring and deck execution, safety, financial forecasting, planning and following company procedure.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant construction software and project management tools.
  • Certifications in Project Management and Risk Management would be an added advantage.
