Job Summary In an assigned City agency or program, may direct, administer, oversee and coordinate the planning, development, and organization of the activities and operations of a program. Advises agency head on the status, findings and problems of projects and programs; recommends to same project policies, practices and problem resolutions. With a high degree of independence, develops, implements, recommends changes in and approves program policies and procedures;
directs and participates in the interpretation of policies and procedures. May evaluate the performance of, discipline and recommend the hiring, firing and promoting of subordinate program personnel or unit supervisors. May direct the preparation of grant proposals for agency programs and initiatives May direct the preparation and administration of a program budget, budget recommendations and the monitoring of budget expenditures.
May coordinate and oversee, upon referral from hospitals, clinics and other agencies, the provision of services to clients diagnosed with medical conditions or problems or needing care. May oversee the maintenance and accuracy of detailed client case records and files; ensures the confidentiality of client case records and files. May participate with others in conducting educational and informational meetings, programs and public health fairs with the general public and targeted at-risk populations.
Evaluates program activities to determine program effectiveness and to ensure achievement of program objectives; reviews policies and procedures to assess effectiveness, makes recommendations for improvement and reports findings to superiors. Speak before community groups and other organizations presenting, explaining and promoting program services. Coordinates program activities with other agencies and organizations explaining program services to and obtaining financial and other assistance from such agencies and organizations and providing assistance to them.
Operates a variety of standard office machines including personnel computers and related standard software and hardware to record, edit, store and revise correspondence, reports, statistical tables, forms and other materials. Answers sensitive, controversial, unusual or complicated questions or complaints regarding work procedures or departmental or grant-funded programs, operations, services or functions.
