Description
Patton's Practical Technologies is a small manufacturer specializing in communications products and electronics assembly. We are committed to delivering high-quality products through innovative manufacturing processes and lean principles. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team and help us bring acquired products and new products into standardized documentation and optimize our production floor.
Responsibilities Process Development and Documentation- Develop and document manufacturing processes for electro‑mechanical assemblies to ensure high quality and cost‑efficiency.
- Create and maintain product assembly procedures, including photographic assembly instructions.
- Create and maintain production process routings, work centers within our ERP systems to support capacity planning.
- Conduct time studies on various processes in support of cost and efficiency improvements and customer estimates.
- Participate in optimizing space utilization and eliminating waste on the production floor.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow and reduce inefficiencies.
- Coordinate the manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
- Provide active consultation to new product development teams regarding manufacturing capabilities and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
- Design and implement production jigs and fixtures to aid in the assembly process.
- Identify, specify, validate, and document new equipment and processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety and design standards.
- Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, and costs.
- Inspect and validate mechanical parts received and produced in house.
- Provide technical training to manufacturing associates on assembly techniques, methods, and processes.
- Investigate and diagnose product manufacturing issues and respond to internal and external customer requests for changes and improvements.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Provide hands‑on engineering support on the manufacturing floor to address and resolve production issues promptly.
- Identify and qualify alternate sources for components to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date component database and ensure multiple sourcing options for critical parts.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and DFMA.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
