Their operation utilizes stamping presses, forming equipment, custom tooling, automated production systems, and precision inspection methods to manufacture highly engineered metal components.
Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer III will support manufacturing operations by developing and implementing production methods, improving manufacturing processes, optimizing equipment utilization, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility. This individual will work closely with Production, Tooling, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve throughput, reduce downtime, enhance product quality, and support new product introductions. This position is highly visible within the organization and requires a hands-on engineer who is comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor troubleshooting production issues, validating processes, and identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement manufacturing processes, methods, and controls to support production requirements and quality objectives.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and work-in-process issues while minimizing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
- Evaluate process flow, plant layout, labor utilization, and equipment effectiveness, recommending and implementing improvements where appropriate.
- Support new product introductions through process development, validation activities, production trials, and first-run evaluations.
- Conduct part validation activities and production trial runs to ensure process readiness and repeatability.
- Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), Control Plans, and related process documentation.
- Monitor manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with approved methods, quality standards, and established manufacturing procedures.
- Analyze manufacturing data and production metrics to identify opportunities for increased throughput, reduced scrap, improved productivity, and lower manufacturing costs.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers regarding equipment repairs, upgrades, maintenance activities, and capital improvement projects.
- Evaluate new and existing production equipment and provide recommendations regarding upgrades, replacements, and modernization efforts.
- Support equipment installation, startup, qualification, and optimization activities.
- Assist in the development of manufacturing schedules and project timelines.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action efforts related to manufacturing performance and product quality.
- Collaborate with Production, Tooling, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel to support manufacturing objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead or participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, cost reduction, and process improvement projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of PFMEA development and Control Plans.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience improving manufacturing processes, productivity, throughput, and equipment utilization.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
- Experience supporting metal stamping, metal forming, wire forming, spring manufacturing, precision metal products, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
- Six Sigma certification or training.
- Experience with capital equipment implementation and production equipment upgrades.
- Exposure to ISO-based manufacturing environments.
