Test Technician I - Instruments
Location:
Sparks, MD 21152 (Onsite) Duration: 12 months (possible extension) Pay Rate: $25/hour on W2 Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
The Test Technician I is responsible for instrument assembly, system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. This role involves analyzing test data, identifying issues, and ensuring instruments meet performance and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform assembly, integration, and testing of instruments
- Execute functional and release testing on moderately complex systems
- Analyze test data to determine pass/fail results
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and basic software issues
- Identify defects and recommend process or design improvements
- Optimize system performance based on testing outcomes
- Read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications
- Train and support team members on testing and assembly processes
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Planning teams
- Follow GMP, safety, and quality standards
- Perform material handling and production support tasks
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean/Kaizen)
- Work overtime as needed
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Mechatronics or related field OR
- 5 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, or software troubleshooting
- Experience with instrument testing and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of mechanical tools (torque drivers, gauges, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Understanding of GMP and quality procedures
- Basic computer skills (Windows environment)
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Team collaboration and communication skills
- Leadership potential (mentoring/training others)
- Adaptability to changing assignments and production needs
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement (Kaizen, Blitzes)
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
- Onsite manufacturing setting
- Hands-on role involving assembly, testing, and equipment handling
