Systems Engineer
Description
SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician to support NAVAIR PMA-209 Tactical Communications (TACCOM) / ARC-210 Radio with legacy and state-of-the-art Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) Satellite Communications engineering activities. Supports systems engineers with acquisition/procurement package development. Tasking includes conducting systems test plans and developing system test reports. The candidate will provide integration support for the ARC-210 radios on airborne platforms. Work will be performed client‑site at NAS Patuxent River and in the SAIC office in California, MD.
Job Duties- Provide systems engineering and integration support to both the Secure Communications integration and the TACCOM development teams.
- Represent the PMA
209 TACCOM team at various meetings/events where the candidate must have excellent communication & organizational skills in addition to an ability to work well with others in a demanding environment. - Support the Secure Communications team GFE procurement and delivery processes and schedules.
- Support planning/tracking acquisition of new capabilities integrated into the ARC-210 system.
- Liaison with all areas of the TACCOM team and the PMA
209 International Program team. - Assist the Program in developing acquisition/procurement packages for ARC-210 TACCOM IPT.
- Provide acquisition support to research, plan, coordinate and draft contract documentation for the acquisition of advanced communication capabilities.
- Identify potential program risks, opportunities and initiatives of future communication efforts.
- Conduct and document platform integration and test plans. Generate high quality test results.
- Serve as alternate manager of COMSEC account at the SAIC facility.
- Provide support and assist with training at the ARC-210 Training Laboratory.
REQUIRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree and 3 years of experience in performing the above duties or HS diploma and 5 years of experience is required.
- Position requires experience with Embedded Communication Security (COMSEC) devices. To meet this requirement the incumbent needs a thorough understanding of VHF, UHF and SATCOM waveforms used in DoD aircrafts. Must be able to interpret and work from schematics, drawings, manuals, handbooks, and technical specifications.
- Experience developing communications systems test plans, conducting systems tests, and developing test result documents.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to interface with a variety of Government, Contractors, and Industry personnel.
- Must be able to assist in the formal and informal ARC-210 training to a diverse audience such as operators and maintainers (Contractors, Military and GOV personnel).
- Must be a self‑starter with a high degree of professionalism, dependability, and be able to operate independently and in a team‑oriented environment.
- With an active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a Top‑Secret clearance is required.
DESIRED
SKILLS:
- Extensive ARC-210 Radio Operation/Maintenance experience.
- Experience as a COMSEC Custodian, Crypto Key Management, and EKMS key transfer practices. COMSEC Custodian course graduate.
- Senior Navy, Marine Corps Officer/Enlisted Military Aviation/Avionics Technical experience.
Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
