Job Summary

The Production Planner will have responsibility for reviewing sales orders, calculating material requirements, creating production schedules, interpreting drawings, incorporating engineering change notices, preparing shipping documents and coordinating project closeouts. Responsible for on-time delivery of internal and external customer requirements. Works independently with minimal supervision. Assignments may include development projects, prototypes, production orders, spares and repairs. Willing to work extra hours as necessary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Interprets sales orders, develops and maintains production schedules, calculates material requirements using MRP system and manually, releases manufacturing orders.
  • Works from engineering drawings and system data to create material demand, production schedules and incorporate engineering change notices.
  • Active management of job orders (release to close) to maintain standard work in process (SWIP) to facilitate flow through all process steps at takt time.
  • Responsible for evaluating the demand planning monthly output from Sales Inventory Operations Planning (SIOP) process by analyzing material availability, machine/equipment/process capacity and manpower requirements.
  • Resolves problems associated with inventories, procurement, scheduling, work-in-process and shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Schedules and chairs meetings.
  • Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production and engineering.

    Manage) data input and integrity: (BOM’s, cycle times, lead times, batch size)
  • Update and maintain router revisions of production documentation.
  • Works with leadership to develop new and/or improved information system applications and department procedures, specifically Made2

    Manage to reconcile demand.
  • Attends DLA meetings and participates as assigned.
  • Prepares status reports as required.
  • Coordinates project closeouts as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with material and production planning information systems in a manufacturing environment (ERP/MRP).

Manage Experience Preferred
  • Experience working in an aerospace environment preferred.
  • Critical analysis of data integrity.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes required.
Computer Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing business systems preferred.
  • Basic PC knowledge: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint.
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment

Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking. Position requires ability to frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects. The work site is an industrial manufacturing operation and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in some aspects of the role. Work usually performed in air-conditioned office environment.
