CNC Sheet Metal Punch Press Operator
Location: Baltimore, MD
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: From $20.00/hour (Higher pay available based on experience)
We are seeking a skilled CNC Sheet Metal Punch Press Operator to produce precision sheet metal components in a manufacturing environment. This role requires experience setting up and operating CNC turret punch presses, reading blueprints, verifying part quality, and maintaining efficient production with minimal material waste.
Qualifications- Minimum 3 years of CNC turret punch press experience
- Experience with Trumpf Tru Punch, Amada Pega, Prima Power, Finn-Power, Salvagnini
, or similar machines - Able to complete machine setups and tooling changes independently
- Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel
- Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documents
- Knowledge of punch tooling, clearances, sheet layout, and material optimization
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Set up and operate CNC turret punch press equipment
- Install tooling and verify machine programs before production
- Load and unload sheet material safely
- Confirm material type, thickness, finish, and revision level before production
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
- Measure finished parts using tape measures, calipers, and templates
- Read blueprints and work instructions to ensure accurate production
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality
- Remove and deburr finished parts as needed
- Maintain work-in-process identification and organize completed jobs
- Help reduce scrap while maximizing material usage
- Complete production paperwork accurately
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
- CNC Turret Punch Presses
- Trumpf Tru Punch, Amada Pega, Prima Power, Finn-Power, Salvagnini, or equivalent
- Precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, templates)
- Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation
- Tooling setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequently bend, reach, and handle sheet metal safely
