Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Program Evaluation
    • Utilize community needs assessment data from the past two years to guide Engaging Men and Boys programming and partnerships.
    • Collect ongoing feedback from youth and community partners to ensure programming remains responsive and relevant.
    • Co-Design and administer pre- and post-surveys and other evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness and outcomes.
    • Analyze data to identify trends and inform program improvements.
  • Education/prevention
    • Develop program-related curricula, including pre- and post-assessments and train the trainer trainings, in collaboration with the youth program and community partners.
    • Train men in the community to provide group support to young men and boys who have been impacted by domestic violence and increase awareness of and prevention for domestic and dating violence in Boston.
    • Facilitate groups for young men/boys impacted by domestic violence. The group objective is to create and teach the curriculum and build a brave space to support youth. Provide mentorship, emotional support, and crisis intervention as needed for male-identifying youth survivors or witnesses to domestic and dating violence.
    • Provide survivors with referrals to comprehensive supports at Casa Myrna and at other organizations/agencies as appropriate.
    • Host quarterly discussions with community partners to engage men and boys in this work.
    • Work with other agency departments, including Peer Leaders, to facilitate education and awareness activities with youth and staff from youth-serving organizations and schools.
    • Train and support community partner agencies on the intersectionality of community violence, poverty, systemic oppression, multi-generational trauma, and the culture of toxic masculinity.
  • Program development
    • Participate in the development and expansion of the engaging men and boys program. As described above, develop curricula and empowerment/leadership groups for male-identifying youth impacted by domestic and family violence.
    • Build partnerships with community organization to recruit young men into our program.
    • Participate in building a digital domestic violence prevention campaign led by the Youth Engagement Manager.
    • Partner with schools, after school programs, community centers, Department of Children and Families, Boston Police Department, Boston district courts, the faith community, and other partners to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed supports to male-identifying youth impacted by domestic violence.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of referrals and relationships with youth-serving community groups, organizations, advocates, and government entities to refer cases when needed.
  • Other duties
    • Participate in team and agency meetings.
    • Represent the agency at meetings with community collaborators and at other events.
    • Work as a team player with other program and agency staff.
    • Develop own professional development plan and attend trainings, meetings, and conferences within Casa Myrna and in the community.
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor and agency.
    • Maintain current and accurate records of services, updating database information and preparing periodic reports as required and ensure accurate and timely reporting on services provided as required by agency protocols.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Committed to Casa Myrna’s values and mission of ending domestic and dating violence and commercial exploitation and promoting social justice and social change.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with youth in youth development, social work, counseling, teaching, and/or other advocacy role preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate, non-judgmental communication techniques when responding to survivors that illustrates sensitivity to their experiences and needs. Ability to work and advocate in a collaborative style with diverse ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic groups, as well as diversity based on ability/disability, sexual orientation, and religion.
