Overview

The University of Maryland Medicine Philanthropy (MMP) is currently recruiting for a Leadership Annual Giving Officer II. The Leadership Annual Giving Officer is responsible for developing, executing, and advancing a comprehensive strategy to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors who make annual gifts between $1,000 and $24,999. This role collaborates closely with colleagues across Annual Giving, Major Gifts, Communications, Events, and Stewardship to create an integrated donor experience that blends personalized outreach, strategic cultivation, meaningful engagement opportunities, and thoughtful recognition.

This individual reports directly to the Executive Director of Annual Giving.

Primary Duties

Responsibilities
  • Fundraising – 50%: Develop and implement a comprehensive donor strategy to engage and secure gifts in the $1,000–$24,999 range, including planning and executing programs to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects.
  • Utilize a multi-channel outreach approach, including personalized emails and phone call outreach to assess donor capacity and interest and solicit meaningful leadership annual gifts.
  • Partner with the Annual Giving team to provide timely, personalized follow-ups to donors and prospects receiving annual giving appeals, enhancing their likelihood of continued and increased giving.
  • Meet regularly with Development and Major Gifts colleagues to refer potential major gift prospects, discuss donor movement, and outline strategic next steps to ensure a coordinated donor pipeline.
  • Work with Major Gifts Officers for input and updates about their programs, including story ideas, programmatic advances, and feedback from faculty members to include in annual giving outreach.
  • Work with Prospect Development to identify, research, and prioritize potential donors to strengthen the pipeline.
  • Development – 35%: Lead, plan, and execute stewardship engagement activities focused on acknowledging and deepening relationships with leadership annual giving donors.
