The Development Director
- Special Events
This position is part of a four-person team responsible for the fund development activities for the organization. It is full time, FLSA Exempt status, including a competitive salary commensurate with experience and benefits package. Target hiring range $60,000- $70,000.
Responsibilities- Work with and build relationships with Council Executive Board Members to increase Scouting’s contacts within the community, and further the organization’s mission
- Responsible for overseeing the prospecting, tracking, engagement, and cultivation through a portfolio of 50-75 annual donors to facilitate gift solicitation opportunities with donors in the $5,000 to $25,000 range
- Serve as staff advisor to the following special event committees:
Distinguished Citizen Award Luncheon ($500,000), Health Services Leadership Award Luncheon ($110,000), Gathering of Eagles and Scouting Alumni ($12,000) and Sporting Clays Classic ($150,000) - Support the success of the department and organization with other duties as assigned
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills: ability to prioritize and self-impose deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Follow-through on tasks; attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to represent the organization professionally
- Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours
- Must be capable of working with sensitive information with discretion
- Technical fluency in Blackbaud CRM (Raiser’s Edge)
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or equivalent professional experience
- Prior Scouting experience is helpful, but not required
The Baltimore Area Council serves over 10,000 youth supported by 5,000 adult volunteers through the Scouting program in Central Maryland. The Council has a full-time staff of 26 and an annual operating budget of $5M. The Council is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of 65 local business and community leaders.
