- Lead the ongoing development and implementation of strategies to build capacity within the Audubon chapter network
- Develop programs and partnerships with high-capacity chapters and oversee communication channels between Audubon and regional chapters
- Build chapter capacity to engage with conservation programs, community science efforts, and advocacy priorities
- Develop and implement state policy platforms in Maryland and Pennsylvania with the Policy Director
- Recruit, equip, and engage advocates and volunteers to advance conservation advocacy and climate policy goals
- Support college and university chapters in coordination with the Audubon on Campus program
- Support local engagement efforts and develop new grassroots leaders
- Provide tools for local municipal support of Lights Out and Bird-Friendly Building programs
- Organize and host chapter leader meetings, gatherings, and networking opportunities
- Work with communications staff on newsletters, social media, action alerts, and the regional website
- Provide updates and recommendations to the AMA advisory board and staff
- Partner with the national EDIB team to organize training for chapter leaders and staff
- Support a culture of philanthropy, including public funding efforts
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas on shared priorities
- Raise Audubon’s visibility through strategic partnerships and communications
- Organize and host in-person Audubon advocacy days in Harrisburg and Annapolis
- Bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ relevant experience in grassroots network building, grassroots advocacy, public policy, wildlife conservation, public service, or related field
- A combination of education and experience will also be considered
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate volunteers and partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex conservation and policy concepts to diverse audiences
- Track record of taking ideas from concept through design and implementation and linking targets and outcomes to strategic goals
- Experience cultivating diverse community partners and partnership projects, preferably with BIPOC-led groups
- Experience leading grassroots engagement on issues or advocacy campaigns and building network advocacy capacity
- Experience working across bipartisan coalitions, urban and rural constituencies, and communities of color
- Experience overseeing complex or multiple projects, including financial goals, deadlines, and coordination of staff and partners
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Commitment to Audubon’s organizational values
- Experience fostering inclusive and collaborative work environments valued
- Thorough understanding of advocacy, communications, and grassroots engagement
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, judgment, collaboration, and coalition-building ability
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications and web-based engagement systems
- Experience with Every Action or similar advocacy database desired
- Willingness to travel, including occasional out-of-state travel, and work some evenings and weekends
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic
- Demonstrated interest in conservation and commitment to the National Audubon Society mission
