Days:
Monday through Friday

Work Hours:

Part-time 1:30pm-6:30pm Hourly Rate Range: $16.50/hr - $18.50/hr

Club Management

The Youth Development Coordinator (YDC) plans, organizes, and implements programs and activities for Club members. Club members range in age from 6-18, and the YDC will implement developmentally appropriate programs across that age range, under the leadership and guidance of Club management. Programs will correspond to BGCMB's pillars of healthy lifestyles, arts and culture, academic success, and character and leadership. The YDC is enthusiastic about building a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for youth.

Responsibilities

Youth Development and Engagement
  • Under the guidance of Club management, create and implement quality program activities and experiences that promote a sense of purpose and empowerment for members.
  • Build appropriate relationships with a diverse group of Club members, ages 6-18, that can serve as a foundation for program implementation.
  • Motivate preteens and teens to participate fully and meaningfully in programs.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
  • Foster an environment that offers youth choices, incorporates team building, and promotes a sense of belonging and group identity for members.
Program Development
  • Coordinate program activities in accordance with Club management’s program goals and incorporate the needs and interests of members.
  • Regularly gather information and feedback from members about their program needs and interests.
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Track member participation in assigned program areas, document results, and track the progress of members as needed.
Safety and Club Environment
  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly Club staff meetings and work as an integral part of a team under Club management.
  • Understand and follow all BGCMB safety policies and procedures and complete and stay up to date with all required trainings and certifications required by the organization.
  • Show up on time and prepared for all scheduled work days.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Understand and articulate the value of BGCMB and serve as an advocate for youth and the field of youth development.
  • Assist with upkeep of Club cleanliness and appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Club management.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children and a track record of creating safe, inclusive environments
  • Knowledge of youth and adolescent development
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written, and presentation
  • Good computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
  • Ability to coach youth and manage challenging behaviors appropriately and with self-regulation
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Valid State Driver’s License and reliable transportation
