Philanthropy Associate II

The Philanthropy Associate II plays a key role in advancing board engagement and fundraising effectiveness across the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) and University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). Reporting to the Director of Board Relations, this position works at the intersection of Board Relations and frontline fundraising to translate engagement and fundraising strategies into coordinated, well‑executed action and strengthen the team's capacity to provide consistent, individualized engagement of board members.

The Philanthropy Associate II partners closely with Board Relations, frontline gift officers, philanthropy operations colleagues, institutional leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen board member engagement, support relationship, and fundraising strategies, and ensure timely follow‑through on key activities. A central focus of the role is helping coordinate individualized board member engagement planning and reporting that helps gift officers and Board Relations identify opportunities to deepen involvement and philanthropic support and ensure those opportunities are effectively advanced.

Operating within established policies and procedures, the Philanthropy Associate II exercises initiative, discretion, and sound judgment in managing assigned responsibilities, resolving routine and non‑routine issues, and ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of donor information. The position contributes to the successful implementation of philanthropy programs by supporting organizational goals, maintaining compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements, and helping create a positive and responsive board member and donor experience.

As an integral member of the philanthropy team, the Philanthropy Associate II supports the mission of Maryland Medicine by providing high‑quality administrative and operational support that strengthens Board Relations capacity and advances fundraising effectiveness, board member and donor engagement, and institutional priorities.
