The Youth Advocate will serve as a bridge between HBI and the youth and communities the program is designed to reach. This position will focus on youth outreach, relationship-building, networking, community connections, and program awareness rather than providing clinical or case‑management services.

Listen and share feedback:
Learn about the needs and concerns of young people and share ideas with the HBI team about how to better reach and support them.

Keep simple records of organizations contacted, outreach activities, and potential referrals.

Is comfortable talking with young people and building relationships.
Is able to engage people from different backgrounds.
Understands the communities and environments in which Baltimore‑area youth live, learn, and socialize.
Is dependable and comfortable working independently in the community.
Can represent ILIA professionally when interacting with community organizations and partners.
Is interested in youth wellbeing, community healing, violence prevention, or supporting families impacted by violence.
Prior professional experience is helpful but not required . Strong community relationships, youth leadership experience, outreach experience, or lived/community experience may be equally valuable.
The Youth Advocate will not be responsible for providing therapy, crisis counseling, case management, or other clinical services. The role is to build connections, share information, identify potential participants and partners, and connect people to trained HBI staff.
