SUMMARY:
Progressive Care is a 40-bed cardiac telemetry unit for patients suffering from chest pain, chronic heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias, or who require preoperative care for catheterization or cardiac surgery. Patients on this unit may also be under 24-hour observation. The daily routine for nurses on this unit consists of bedside shift reports, assessments, hourly rounding, phlebotomies, IV insertions, aquapheresis, TR band recovery, patient education and more.
During daily accountable care unit rounding, physicians, nurses, case management team members or social workers, and members of the pharmacy team collaborate and discuss the care plans of patients. Staff members on this unit pride themselves on an autonomous nursing practice setting and strongly value communication, collaboration and teamwork.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the patient care team, the RN provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and functions as an advisor and resource for patients and their families.
- Provide safe, age-appropriate patient care as a Registered Nurse on a 40-bed cardiac telemetry unit.
- Perform bedside shift reports, assessments, hourly rounding, phlebotomies, IV insertions, aquapheresis and TR band recovery as part of routine care.
- Educate patients and families about care plans and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate during daily accountable care unit rounding with physicians, case management, social workers and pharmacy team to discuss patient care plans.
- Support an autonomous nursing practice while prioritizing communication, collaboration and teamwork.
- Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college) or diploma in Nursing.
- Requires knowledge of a specialized field.
- Less than 1 year of experience.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in Maryland.
- American Heart Association CPR Certification.
