Registered Nurse Student Health Services (Evening Shift | Contract-to-Hire) - Baltimore, MD
Schedule: 35 evening hours (Mon–Thurs 3:00pm–11:00pm; Fri 12:45pm–3:45pm)
Schedule Type: 11-Month Position
Salary Range: $66,609 – $132,687

Position SummaryUnder supervision, the Registered Nurse provides nursing assessment, treatment, and consultation as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The nurse supports students’ health needs while promoting independence and ensuring compliance with professional nursing standards.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to students, including assessment, treatment, medication administration, and documentation in accordance with Health Center standards.
- Consult and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and community-based professionals.
- Collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary team and participate in team and IEP meetings as required.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to enhance nursing practice.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and lead projects as assigned.
- Assume charge nurse/unit coordination responsibilities when required.
- Provide health education to students to promote independence and deliver health training to staff.
- Support staff performing delegated nursing functions.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- Ability to push/pull 100+ pounds and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Support specialty clinics as needed.
- Provide emergency healthcare services to staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure through the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. LPN candidates may be considered with a commitment to obtain RN licensure within three (3) years.
- Minimum one (1) year of pediatric nursing experience.
- Strong knowledge of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
- Experience evaluating and caring for students with multiple disabilities.
- Knowledge of childhood disabilities, physical and cognitive development, cerebral palsy, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and communicable diseases.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
After one year in the position, the nurse must demonstrate knowledge of:
- Basic gestural systems, behavior management, and data collection.
- The impact of visual impairment/blindness on health status.
- Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations and service implications.
- MSB computer systems and Health Center software (SNAP).
- MSB policies and procedures.
- Work is performed in multiple indoor campus environments with varying sound, lighting, and temperature conditions.
- Must be able to walk between buildings or operate a golf cart.
- Equipment includes: BP machines (manual/automated), otoscope, ophthalmoscope, nebulizer, glucose monitoring equipment, AED, oxygen tanks, computer systems, and other standard health assessment tools.
- Occasional flextime, overtime, and weekend assignments may be required.
