Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Must have an active, in-good-standing RN license valid in the state in which clinical will practice. Must also possess current CPR certification.

Experience

• RN 1:
  May be a recent graduate of an approved nursing school with up to one year of experience.
• RN 2:
  Two to five years of nursing experience, with one year in addictions, mental health, or related specialty.
• RN 3:
  Five or more years of nursing experience, with two years in addictions, mental health, or related specialty.

• Perform initial nursing assessment for clients within 24 hours of admission in accordance with established program policies and state regulation.
• Arrange appropriate appointments with Health Care Providers to secure complete physical examinations, as well as required additional health screenings and supplemental tests.
• Administer medications, and supervise self-administered medications where appropriate and allowed by regulation.
• Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and accurate records of same in compliance with governing regulations and agency policy.
• Counsel clients on nutrition, health care, self-care, symptom management, etc.
• Ensure clients have appropriate medical coverage to guarantee safety, adequate care, and provider compliance for payment.
• Ensure proper storage of supplies as required by regulation.
• Assist in the facilitation of special events, including staff training, staff retreat, workshops, and facility events.
• Implement health seminars, including HIV/AIDS, nutrition, medication education, infectious diseases, mental health, etc.
• Participate in treatment/multidisciplinary team meetings, as directed.
• Implement and assure adherence to infection control policies and practices.
• Provide education for clients regarding health, nutrition, safety, and medication compliance.
• Maintain RN license with good standing.
• Other related duties as assigned by Nurse Manager or designee.

• Required to work rotating weekends including one off shift per week to ensure program coverage.
• May be required to work shifts outside of assigned shifts during critical staffing shortages.
• The minimum holiday requirement is one major summer holiday and one major winter holiday. Other holidays will be rotated amongst all staff.
• This position is deemed essential and will be required to work during inclement weather.
• For Gaudenzia sites with multiple programs, you may be required to work in any of the programs based on staffing needs.
• PRN positions require three shifts per month.
