Job Requirements
University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The UM Galisano Children’s Hospital is a comprehensive hospital within UMMC that offers services across the spectrum of acute care, including a 52‑bed NICU and a Level IV NICU covering 37,000 square feet.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide highly intensive care to the most critically ill newborns. Responsibilities include daily patient management, leadership, resource support for the provider team, and serving as an educational resource for nursing, medical staff, and families. The APP collaborates with attending physicians in evidence‑based decision making, supports the neonatal transport team through the Maryland Regional Neonatal Transport Program, and participates in professional practice activities.
WorkExperience
- The successful candidate will have completed an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program and obtained NNP/PA certification.
- NCC (National Certification Corporation) for NNPs is required.
- NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) for PAs is required.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate solid clinical experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
- Maryland licensure or eligibility is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of neonatal nursing experience for NNP candidates is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of work in a NICU/FTN for PA candidates or successful completion of Neonatal PA Residency/Fellowship is required.
- New graduate Neonatal NPs are encouraged to apply.
