Position: Licensed Practical Nurse, 10-Month - Baltimore City Health Department

Licensed Practical Nurse (10 Months)

Salary Range: $45,048.00 - $51,429.00 Annually

Starting Pay: $45,048.00 Annually

A Licensed Practical Nurse (10 Months) provides practical nursing care to patients and clients under the direction of a physician or a registered nurse. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class may work rotating shifts including evenings and weekends. Work is performed in a clinic, an office or the client's home where they may be exposed to illness, disease and stressful conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    Have Two years of experience as a licensed practical nurse.
  • AND
  • License, Registrations, and

    Certifications:

    Current licensure as a practical nurse in the State of Maryland or practical nurse licensure from a Multi-State Licensure Compact participant state is required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of practical nursing standards and practices.
  • Ability to apply practical nursing care.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers, physicians, registered nurses, other health care professionals, patients and their families.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally.
  • Ability to maintain records.

Additional Information

Background Check

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.

Probation

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.

Eligibility

Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

Education Accreditation

Applicants' education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained es.org.

Selection Process

All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their applications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application. Examination Process

Applicants must provide sufficient information on their application to show that they meet the minimum qualifications for this recruitment. Successful applicants will be placed on the employment certified eligible list for at least six months.
