MDS Coordinator RN

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our team at Stadium Place Nursing & Rehab Center in Baltimore, MD. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of our care plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing exceptional care to our residents. Responsibilities
  • Participates in prospective residents' admission process in terms of their nursing needs and appropriate placement.
  • Determines potential Resource Utilization Groups (RUGS) and expense associated with a potential admission.
  • Reviews all applications for admission, followed by on-site or phone assessment and communicates results of assessment to the Admissions Coordinator.
  • Completes and assures the accuracy of the MDS process for all residents.
  • Maintains current working knowledge of Medicare criteria, serving as a resource for nursing staff and communicating changes in regulations.
  • Monitors Case Mix Index (CMI) scores, looking for potential risks and/or changes that may affect Medicaid Reimbursement.
  • Facilitates problem‑solving for complicated admissions.
  • Monitors Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Develops care plans and assessment schedules for residents.
  • Utilizes the RAI, MDS 3.0, QM, CBQM, and MBP manuals to inform activities and assessments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing along with a valid state nursing license.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Exceptional mathematical skills and ability to apply them to tasks such as analysis of variance and sampling theory.
  • Previous experience in a clinical and healthcare setting; experience as an MDS coordinator preferred.
  • An understanding of the MDS 3.0 assessments and procedures.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • A solid understanding of data collection, reporting, and analysis.
