Nursing Assistant Programs - Adjunct Faculty - Continuing Education

Responsibilities

• Implement the instructional elements of the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) approved Nursing Assistant Geriatric Nursing Assistant Curriculum
• Teach the CNA/GNA program
• Provide instruction, as needed, in the Patient Care Technician and Medicine Aide program
• Coordinate theory and skills instruction as dictated by the MBON
• Coordinate clinical instruction with health care facilities
• Evaluate student performance in the skills and clinical setting

Weekend and evening classes are available.

Pay rates for non-credit courses in Continuing Education are commensurate with education and experience qualifications. Salary scales are posted on the website.

To teach the CNA/GNA Program

• Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
• Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year caring for the elderly or chronically ill (long‑term care) within the past five (5) years
• Minimum of sixteen (16) hours of course instruction in Principles of Adult Education or two (2) years of nursing‑related teaching experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to attend to details and multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Valid driver’s license with less than five points on a driving record (required for travel to off‑campus sites and clinical settings)

To teach the Patient Care Technician Program and Medicine Aide Program

• Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
• Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

To teach the Nurse Support Technician program and Medicine Aide Program

• Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

To teach the Nursing Refresher program

• Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience and a Master’s degree in Nursing
