Travel Clinical Nurse Instructor (Assistant Professor, Experiential Learning) About Nightingale College

Nightingale College is more than a nursing school — we’re a high‑impact community on a mission to transform healthcare access across the United States. We believe that where a learner lives should never determine the quality of their nursing education. Our faculty are the heartbeat of that mission — and this role puts you right at the center of it.

About the Role

This isn’t a classroom position. This isn’t remote. This is a fully immersive, on‑the‑ground clinical education role where you’ll travel to healthcare facilities across the country and do what great nurse educators do best: meet learners where they are and guide them through the experiences that will shape their careers.

As a Assistant Professor, Experiential Learning
, you’ll facilitate clinical instruction at our supervised on‑ground focused education (SOFE) sites — working across Nightingale’s Practical Nursing, Practical to Associate Degree Nursing, and Baccalaureate Nursing programs.

A few things we want to be upfront about:

  • Travel: This role requires 100% travel to clinical sites. While you’ll generally be placed within your designated region, operational needs may occasionally take you beyond it. When they do, we’ll have an honest conversation, work collaboratively on a solution, and cover all travel and lodging.
  • Schedule: You’ll work across all three semesters (spring, summer, fall — each 15 weeks), with at least 11 weeks per semester dedicated to clinical rotations. The remaining weeks support onboarding, certifications, and other faculty responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
  • Facilitate learner instruction across clinical settings at partner facilities nationwide
  • Teach and evaluate learners enrolled in PN, LPN to ASN, and BSN programs
  • Monitor learner attendance, performance, and comprehension — maintaining open communication and submitting required performance grades on time
  • Uphold partner facility standards and hold learners accountable to them
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and shared governance
  • Contribute to faculty development and institutional initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited institution
  • Active, unencumbered RN or APRN license (state of residence) with the ability to obtain licensure in any required jurisdiction, including a valid multi‑state license
  • Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential — or a commitment to obtaining it within one year of hire
  • At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience within the past 5 years
  • Current immunization and certification records as required by accreditation, facility, or state board of nursing
  • Proficiency in modern technology platforms with the ability to adapt quickly to new software
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience supervising clinical education activities
  • 1 year of experience delivering Concept‑Based Nursing Education
  • 1 year of distance education experience
  • Familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management software
Physical Requirements

This role demands physical presence and stamina in active clinical environments. You should be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours) during clinical instruction
  • Assist in demonstrating skills requiring reaching, bending, and manual dexterity
  • Lift, carry, or move educational equipment up to 25–50 lbs
  • Respond rapidly in clinical settings, including emergency situations
  • Communicate effectively in busy environments, including while wearing PPE

Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals.

Why Nightingale?

At Nightingale, faculty aren’t just instructors — they’re community members in a shared mission to close healthcare gaps and transform nursing education. You’ll work alongside a passionate, collaborative team, have access to professional development, and make a measurable difference in the lives of learners and the patients they will one day care for.

Budgeted Hiring Range

$93,500 - $102,850 USD

All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will cover travel, lodging, and other accommodations.

Nightingale’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is reflected both in our learners and collaborators because we believe the best outcomes for learners from underserved and diverse populations are achieved through collaborators with similar backgrounds and cultures. Nightingale Education Group is an equal opportunity employer.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
