Pediatric Stepdown Registered Nurse
This position is for a Pediatric Stepdown Registered Nurse. The unit is a mixed rehabilitation environment; PCU experience is not necessary. Pediatric experience is acceptable, provided the required skills are met. Candidates must have experience in trach and ventilator management. The role requires working weekends every other weekend. Holidays are also required as scheduled. Floating within the specialty and other departments may be necessary.
Traveling to a different campus may be required, though this is rare. The patient population includes children and adolescents. Common diagnoses include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and burns. Patients may also have complex needs related to feeding disorders and other rehabilitation requirements. The ideal candidate must demonstrate effective skills in infection prevention and respiratory care. Essential skills include central line care, NG tube management, and ventilator management.
Various interdisciplinary support services are available on the unit. The staffing ratio is typically 1:4 during shifts. Candidates must be comfortable floating within their scope without restrictions. The ability to work collaboratively with different disciplines is essential. Compliance with all necessary certifications is required upon hiring.
