Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) for a 12-week travel assignment at a busy acute care facility in Baltimore, Maryland. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced emergency department providing high-quality care to patients with a wide range of emergent and critical care needs.

The ideal candidate is a confident emergency nurse with strong assessment skills, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to effectively manage multiple patient priorities in a dynamic environment.

Position Highlights
  • 12-week travel assignment
  • Night shift schedule
  • 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as scheduled
  • First-time travelers welcome
  • EPIC charting system
  • Patient ratio: 1:4
Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
  • Perform triage and prioritize patient care based on acuity
  • Identify and respond to life-threatening conditions and emergencies
  • Monitor patient status and recognize changes in condition
  • Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions as ordered
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and obtain health histories
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
  • Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
  • Ensure compliance with emergency department policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices
  • Delegate and supervise patient care activities as appropriate
Patient Care Environment

Emergency nurses in this setting provide care for patients with a broad spectrum of medical, surgical, traumatic, and critical conditions requiring rapid assessment, intervention, and ongoing monitoring.

Requirements Licensure
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
Certifications
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Required
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) Required
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required
  • Previous travel experience not required
Additional Qualifications
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency department
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
  • Computer proficiency required
Scheduling Expectations
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Floating may be required within the specialty and to other units within scope in an extender role
  • On-call not required
