Nursing Assistant Position at The Households at Levindale
Experience nursing in a long-term care setting designed to feel like home. The Households at Levindale is an innovative, resident-centered community featuring six intimate households with just 14 private rooms each, allowing nurses to build meaningful relationships while providing personalized, compassionate care. Two households specialize in dementia care, and one is dedicated to serving the Orthodox Jewish community.
Residents enjoy home-cooked meals prepared by an onsite chef, comfortable living spaces, cozy gathering areas, beautiful outdoor courtyards, and engaging daily activities that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life. Guided by the Eden Alternative philosophy, the Households embraces a warm, family-like environment where companionship, nature, and purposeful living are at the heart of care.
Essential Responsibilities- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
- Obtain and record vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other assigned observations.
- Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to licensed nursing staff.
- Assist residents with transfers, ambulation, positioning, and restorative care activities.
- Utilize proper body mechanics and safe patient handling equipment, including Hoyer lifts and specialty beds.
- Promote resident dignity, independence, and quality of life through compassionate care.
- Build positive relationships with residents and become familiar with their individual preferences, routines, and needs.
- Support residents' emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual well-being.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for residents and visitors.
- Assist with meal service and encourage resident participation and choice.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Document care and observations accurately and timely.
- Participate in resident-centered care planning and team communication.
- Adhere to all regulatory, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Less than one year of healthcare experience required.
- Previous long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare experience preferred.
- Current Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA I) certification required (GNA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Ability to safely utilize medical equipment, including Hoyer lifts and specialty beds.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Completion of annual nursing skills requirements and Health Stream education assignments.
