Role Overview
A Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit provides compassionate, evidence-based care for patients throughout the perinatal period, adhering to AWHONN standards. The role involves assessing maternal and fetal health, monitoring vital signs and fetal heart rates, and managing high-risk pregnancies and postpartum recovery. The nurse participates in emergency responses for obstetrical complications, including postpartum hemorrhage and fetal distress.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct maternal and fetal assessments
- Care for high-risk and postpartum patients
- Respond to obstetrical emergencies
- BSN preferred from CCNE-accredited schools
- Maryland RN licensure
- American Heart Association BLS Certification; ACLS & NRP required before orientation
- Minimum of 1 year L&D experience
