Medical Surgical Oncology Floor RN Days, various locations. This position involves providing specialized inpatient nursing care for oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and patient education. The role requires a compassionate approach to support patients through their treatment journey within a busy oncology unit.
Job Details- Certifications, Education, and
Experience:
Active MD or Compact RN License, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), Chemo (Oncology Nursing Society/ONCC), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical surgical oncology setting. - Schedule:
4 days per week, 10-hour shifts, Days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), minimum of 40 hours per week. - Responsibilities:
Administration of chemotherapy, electrolytes, blood products, and supportive care treatments; managing ports and central lines; patient/family education; monitoring for complications such as infections, side effects, or adverse reactions; collaborating with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care. - Additional Information:
Candidates must be comfortable floating within their scope and handling complex oncology-specific procedures. Onboarding involves labs within 72 hours of signing, with a deadline for compliance documentation five days prior to start date. - Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Epic charting system, charge nurse experience, previous community hospital or in-patient oncology experience. - Required Qualifications:
Active MD or Compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, Chemo certification, NIHSS certification, minimum 2 years oncology/infusion experience, proficiency with Epic charting system, and experience with complex infusion procedures.
