American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring an active MD or Compact RN license and 2 years of CVICU experience, with first-time travelers considered.
Details- CVICU setting caring for adult and geriatric patients
- 15 beds/rooms with an average daily census of 10
- Patient ratio of 1:1, up to 1:3 with stable, lower acuity patients
- Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, MI, PH, advanced therapy workups (LVAD, heart transplants), mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Performs or assists with bedside central/A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA cath insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
- Utilizes specialized equipment including Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
- Rotating day/night shifts, 3x12 hours (07:00-19:30 or 19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty to lower acuity units as needed
- On-call may be required
- Epic EMR used, experience required
- Active RN license, MD or Compact, required at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
- CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- CCRN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experienced in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of the ventilated patient
- Proficient in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and managing dysrhythmias
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and renal management preferred
- Provide direct care to critically ill cardiovascular patients including those with LVAD, IABP, and Impella support devices
- Manage patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, and renal conditions requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
- Collaborate with a specialized CVICU team in a high-acuity environment
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Locals residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per request; requests exceeding 4 consecutive days require an added week at contract end
- One major holiday off during the winter season may be permitted
- Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months since their last assignment
- Former staff must wait 12 months before returning as travelers
- Typically limited to one contract and one extension before requiring a 6-month break from the facility
- First-time travelers with strong CVICU skills and experience will be considered
