Role Overview
A Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit provides skilled, compassionate, and evidence-based care to mothers and newborns across all obstetrical care levels. The nurse conducts comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments, monitors vital signs and fetal heart rates, and recognizes early signs of complications. Responsibilities include caring for high-risk pregnancies, postpartum recovery, pain management, and supporting newborn bonding and breastfeeding.
The role involves participating in obstetrical emergency responses such as postpartum hemorrhage and fetal distress.

- BSN preferred from CCNE-accredited schools
- Maryland Registered Nurse License
- American Heart Association BLS Certification; ACLS & NRP required prior to orientation completion
- Minimum of 1 year of L&D experience
Ability to perform maternal and fetal assessments, respond effectively to emergencies, and provide patient-centered care in a high-pressure environment.
